Wireframe - Redesign from sponsor input

The sponsor of this capstone project provided important design and navigation input on June 16.  This latest wireframe design is an attempt to incorporate elements from other websites that the project sponsor found useful. Here's what's been added:

1. The Vermont Law School website shows a dominant image with a one word concept designed to pull a reader into the site.  Concepts such as, "Participate, Advocate, Access, Act and Expand" transition in and out of the home page.  By clicking on the image the reader is taken to one of the top navigation bar concepts (Participate=Experience, Advocate=Academics, Access=Faculty, Act=Admissions, Expand=Career Path).

In thinking about how this approach might apply to the Vermont Partnership site, we've developed the following: "Communication, Cooperation, Co-existance, Compassion and Community."  I don't see any logical connection between any of these ideas and the proposed top navigation (Voices for VPFD, About us, Programs & Services, Resources, Contact Us) but who's to say that it might not work?

2. The sidebar navigation has been simplified to four dominant tabs - "How do I, Civil Rights Advocacy, Policy & Research and Education."  The "How do I" tab was taken from the U.S. Patent & Trade Office, which provides step-by-step advice on filing for patents.  VPF&D would like the same type of functionality for such examples as walking a victim through a complaint form or how to run for office.

3. It's important that we're clear about where people need to go on the website to access specific information.  The three dominate tabs on the home page were inspired by the Calvert School home page, which clearly places specific programs in tidy compartments.

Other ideas set forth by the sponsor relate more to page design.  I'm sure that some of that thinking will become apparent as we move into the page design phase.

As always, please post reactions to the new information shown here.  The new wireframe has been posted here for comments.

  1. Peter,

Nice job posting the evolution of the wireframes! You've put so much effort into these that they would definitely qualify as deliverables on your rubric. Once you've looked over my rubric I think you'll see what I mean -- somewhat akin to the competitive site review I submitted as one of my deliverables. Keep em' coming...
